Allegiant Air, a nine-year-old airline that operates a fleet that includes 20 MD-80 jets, announced Monday it will provide nonstop service from Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport to Las Vegas.

Flights will start April 5 with a limited introductory one-way fare of $69.
The announcement comes a week after Allegiant announced the start of non-stop Las Vegas service from Billings, Mont. on March 31, with introductory fares of as little as $59 one-way.
Waco aviation officials were hoping last summer that Allegiant would add Waco Regional Airport to its schedule, but talks between the airline and a local jet fuel provider fell apart just days before the start of service was to have been announced.
