The Stratosphere Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas announced last Wednesday (on December 22) its plans to open the fourth thrill ride atop the 1,149-foot Stratosphere Tower: Insanity - The Ride.

The new attraction will spin the riders in circles, at 40 miles per hour, 900 feet above the Strip.

Every ride can hold 10 passengers. The maximum distance over the edge of the Stratosphere deck is 64 feet. The motion originates a centrifugal force of three Gs.

The Stratosphere staff excels in offering the Las Vegas visitors the most thrilling, adrenaline raising experiences. Insanity's predecessors are Big Shot, High Roller roller coaster and X-Scream.

The Stratosphere thrill rides are world famous and highly attractive, exercising their magnetism both over onlookers and daring passengers.

The new thrill is expected to open early 2005. An Insanity ride will cost $8 and $4 for any subsequent rides.

Stratosphere officials did not unveil how much it cost them to build Insanity - The Ride. What we know for sure is that before Insanity, many other thrill-projects have been proposed by Stratosphere, but did not pass the Las Vegas City Council, nor the District Court or the Nevada Supreme Court.

One of those rides implied passengers being carried in the belly of a massive King Kong escalating the tower. Another plan was about a fishhook-shaped roller coaster track that would ferry riders 740 feet up the hotel's tower before dropping them down eastward and across Las Vegas Boulevard at 120 mph.

Insanity - The Ride was approved by the Las Vegas City Planning Commission on April 8, and there was no need for approval by the entire Council, city of Las Vegas spokeswoman Diana Paul explained.
