Las Vegas Gambling - Local Officials Criticize FBI's Use of National Security Letters

Nevada lawmakers and leaders of the gambling industry are criticizing the FBI's gathering of information on individuals from casinos without a judge's approval.

The tactic involves the FBI sending companies "national security letters," according to a recent news accounts.

The FBI's requests demand that casinos, libraries or other institutions turn over billing information or gaming profiles of anyone involved in a terrorism investigation.

American Gaming Association Chairman Frank Fahrenkopf said the issue is a priority for his organization and will discuss it at the group's Dec. 7 board meeting in Las Vegas.
