The renovation of a historic building in Las Vegas into a museum dedicated to the history of organized crime has begun, amid concerns it will celebrate the seedy side of Sin City.

The Nevada resort town is pushing forth a plan to take a National Historic Landmark building — which once housed an old courthouse and post office — and turn it into a museum the city says will showcase Vegas's roots.

But critics say the project is nothing more than a chance for Las Vegas mayor and former mob-lawyer Oscar Goodman to pay tribute to his former clients.
