Las Vegas sports betting - Las Vegas betting on a big wager day

It's the biggest gambling day in Las Vegas, and the event doesn't even happen there.
The $90.7 million legally wagered at Nevada sports books last Super Bowl Sunday broke the record, and that could happen again today, Jay Kornegay, director of racing and sports at the Las Vegas Hilton, said.
It just keeps getting bigger.
"This is the one event that people bet on, even if it's their first wager ever," he said. "We thought we were in trouble two years ago with the Carolina Panthers. You couldn't find a Panthers fan within 200 miles. But it didn't matter."
Sports bets aren't the most profitable wagers for casinos, but they bring traffic to more lucrative slot machines and gaming tables. The Hilton, as a form of outreach, offers about 300 "proposition" bets, in which money can be wagered on whether Ben Roethlisberger's first pass will be complete, or whether the Steelers and Seahawks combined will score more points than Kobe Bryant in his game against the Hornets yesterday.
